Biography

Dr. Hjördis Czesnick is head of office of the German Research Ombudsman, the Committee for Research Integrity in Germany. She studied biology, focusing on plant biology and genetics and worked as a post-doc in plant epigenetics. Since 2016, she advises researchers (of all disciplines) in matters of research integrity in close collaboration with the Research Ombudsman Committee and her team. The Research Ombudsman focuses on confidential conflict mediation. The office and the committee of the German Research Ombudsman deal with more than two hundred enquiries annually and continuously contribute to the development of the rules of good research practice at a national and international level. From 2019 to 2021, Hjördis Czesnick has been co-vice chair of ENRIO and she was co-chair of ENRIO’s working group on whistleblower protection. Currently, she is a member of the editorial board of ENRIO’s bulletin “Research Integrity Practice in Europe” (RIPE).
