Dainius Žalimas

Dr. Dainius Žalimas is a Member of the European Parliament and a Professor of International and Constitutional Law at the Law Faculty of Vytautas Magnus University. He also serves as a member of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission). D. Žalimas previously served as a judge (2011–2021) and President (2014–2021) of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania. He is the former Dean of the Law Faculty at Vytautas Magnus University and the former Head of the Law and Democracy Center (Justice Hub). D. Žalimas is the author and co-author of over 10 books on public international and constitutional law, as well as more than 160 scientific articles published in various academic journals. In recognition of his significant contributions to the improvement of the Lithuanian legal system and his role in strengthening constitutional justice, D. Žalimas was awarded the Grand Cross of Commander of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 2018.
